Leporano and the surrounding area is steeped in history. On the cliff tops overlooking Saturo stand the ruins of a Roman villa comparable to Villa Sirmione and Villa dei Misteri in Pompei or Villa di Papiri in Hercolaneum. A few kilometres away is Taranto an ancient city boasting a Cathedral, Aragonese Castle and the National Museum, housing an impressive ancient Greek archeological collection.

Also well worth visiting are the Caves at Castellana, the characteristic Trulli in the Valley of Itria, the zoo at Fasano and the Potteries in Grottaglie
